Common questions

My capture card doesn't appear.

Install the card maker's Mac driver (Blackmagic Desktop Video, AJA, Magewell), restart the Mac, then choose the card on the Video & Audio page. Click Refresh Devices if it was plugged in while the app was open.

QLab won't connect.

In QLab, open Workspace Settings ▸ Network ▸ OSC Access and make sure a passcode has view access, then enter it on the QLab page. Both Macs must be on the same network. QLab Macs on the network appear in the list automatically.

A connection says local network access is off.

macOS is blocking the app's network access. Open System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Local Network, turn TechDeck Record on, then click Reconnect.

The Eos cue doesn't show.

On the console, turn on OSC under Setup ▸ System ▸ Show Control ▸ OSC, then enter the console's IP address on the Eos page and use the TCP connection.

How do I use LTC timecode?

Patch LTC into a spare audio input and choose that channel on the Timecode page. Mute that channel on the Video & Audio page if you don't want the tone in the recording.

Where are my recordings?

In the folder chosen on the Recording page, Movies ▸ TechDeck Record by default. Record ▸ Show Recordings in Finder (⇧⌘O) opens it. Each movie has its cue log (.csv) beside it.

Can I move the overlays?

Yes. Click Arrange in the toolbar (⌘L), then drag any overlay, the logo, the second camera or the marker. Click one and use the arrow keys to nudge it.

Why does it ask for Screen Recording?

Only if you choose a screen or app window as the second picture. Allow it in System Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Screen & System Audio Recording.
